Google is Cleaning the House

Ready for some summer cleaning?  Google has taken some virtual Windex to their directories with their latest update.  The update to Google’s data centers over this past weekend is leaving many in shock, including webmasters and website owners.  Of course updates always mean changes, but where most updates are like straightening the house, this weekend’s sought to hunt down every virtual dust-bunny and obliterate it.

Certain changes will shift the way Google ranks pages, such as placing a “0” value on a vast number of directories, meaning that sites can no longer use directories as a quick solution to obtaining good ranking positions.

Adsense accounts created for websites that only exist for Adsense are being shut down, which is good news for PPC (pay-per-click) advertisers.   Imagine your ad on a page with virtually no content of any value…it would be a waste of space, because there isn’t any value in that page and you won’t see any appreciable results.

What needs to happen in order for content network advertising to be credible once more?  Google needs to clean out parked domains, websites and any error pages.  All in all, what do these changes mean for website owners and webmasters?  Perhaps a little more leg work, but with far stronger, and more profitable results.

Obtaining a strong PR (Page Rank) or placing ads on reliable sites may require more time and research on the front side, but those values, those ads, will be worth more in the long run, because they’ll need to be merit based.  Just like cleaning your home, the more time and more attention to detail you afford the task, the cleaner your home will be.

Google TV and Your Video Ad

If you are looking to market your video, Google TV is the best solution.  Benefits of using Google TV include flexibility, accountability and measurement.

Because Google TV doesn’t feature any forced bundling, you’re free to choose whichever and however many networks you’d like to advertise on.  Your choices are adjustable, granting you flexibility with your video ad.

Google TV works similarly to Google AdWords in that you designate a maximum bid price per viewing.  This allows you to manage your own budget, which means that you can take advantage of Google TV on any size budget.  By providing account management, you’re able to maintain a level with which you’re comfortable.

One of the most important features of any ad management program is reporting capability, because this is how you will analyze results and figure out what’s working and what might need to be tweaked.  Google TV allows you to see when viewers are watching your ad.

Ease of use is another reason to run your video ad through Google TV.  In just four steps, you can set up and monitor your video ad campaign.  Beginning with selecting which networks and programs you’d like to work with, you then simply upload your video, set a budget and maximum bid, and then you can begin tracking your video ad’s progress.

Google TV provides technological specifications and requirements before hand so that you can make sure the video ad that you upload will be properly viewed.  The traffic estimator will help you determine a bid price if you’re unsure of what price to select and the tracking and optimization reports not only tell you when your video ad ran, but also where.

Most importantly, Google TV creates brand awareness as well as creating searches for your brand, making your video ad more accessible to those searching for the products or services offered by your business.  With increased visibility comes an increase in the number of prospects visiting your website…and from there it’s just a matter of letting your prospects know, in further detail, why they should become loyal customers.

Online Video Advertisement a Must Have

As more and more advertising and marketing occurs on the internet, the demand for visual items on a website increases.  Adding video to your website both eases the sale of services you offer and increases brand recognition.

Your websites is chock-full of useful and original content, but that content will take some time to read, and while you’re sure your reader won’t be snoozing, giving visitors to your website something short, sweet and to the point has its value.

That’s where video advertisement comes in.  Embedding a well-designed video on your site gives you an upfront opportunity to inform your potential customers what they should expect to gleam from your services.  By knowing this ahead of time, not only are your prospects more likely to stick around and read the information you’ve given them, but they will associate you with what you’ve written.

If you’re running a pet-sitting agency, and your video emphasizes your reliability, kindness and knowledge regarding pets, and later your website visitor reads your article on working with the vet to provide your pet a proper diet, he or she will be more likely to associate that knowledge with your pet-sitting agency.

You’ve demonstrated, with that article, your pet-expertise, backing up your promise to be knowledgeable when it comes to pets.  In addition, the qualities of your services that are emphasized in your video can entice your viewer to read more of the content on your webpage.

Your online video advertisement is another way to increase brand recognition; because of course your video will feature your logo and perhaps a motto.  Perhaps the person visiting your website is not in need of a pet-sitter at the present time, and wound up on your site while searching for pet dietary advice.

Months later he or she may have a need for your services.  Suppose he or she does not remember you right away, but will remember your logo when they see it or your motto when they read it.  Your online video has just assisted with brand recognition, and very likely, gaining you a new customer.

Your video must be carefully constructed.  Online video advertisement is quite different from a television commercial.  Most television viewers will watch a commercial because they don’t want to miss a portion of the program by channel surfing during commercial breaks.

On the internet, viewers are independently electing to watch your video.  If it runs too long or fails to be engaging, they won’t bother watching it through to the end.  Furthermore, prospects with slower internet connections may be wary of streaming a long video.

Online video advertisement can serve as the gateway to information for your prospects, and the key to grabbing attentions, for your website.
